Vintage Planters Peanuts Mr. Peanut Headline Wearable Advertising Piece Approx. 48” T x 20” W
Authentic Planter’s Mr. Peanut Costume with embossed lettering – “PLANTERS MR. PEANUT”. I have owned this Planters Peanut rare advertising costume for over 40 years. I used it as a display piece and have never worn it. The costume is very sturdy and in very good condition. Dimensions about 48 inches tall and 20 inches wide. Not sure what year it was actually made -possibly in the 30’s or 40’s. I have read people saying it was produced anywhere from the 1920’s-1950’s. It is definitely a great collectible piece either for display or wear. During the early days of marketing and business, advertising costumes were made for companies such as the Planter’s Peanut company. People were hired to wear this costume and wander around stores, sidewalks, parades, or public functions, either giving out small sample nut packs or just being seen along the boardwalk. It has garnered some scuffs and bruises along the way but remains in very good condition for the age and past use. Can make a Great Halloween addition! Note the original Mr. Peanuts brand signage on the hat, which clearly dates this vintage costume from newer Mr. Peanut knock-offs.
